Chef Joseph Poon is known for his Asian Fusion Cuisine and a real passion for watermelon. He prepares fresh meals with simple elegance — and a dash of adventure. From his contemporary and quirky venue in Philadelphia Chinatown he conducts Wok ‘N Walk Tours of Philadelphia Chinatown and teaches cooking classes. In addition, he leads trips to China and participates in dozens of philanthropic events each year. He recently published the inspirational, autobiographical cookbook, Life is Short…Cooking is Fun.
Chef Joe had just $8 in his pocket and an equally meager knowledge of English when he arrived in Philadelphia in the early 1970s. But that didn't stop the Hong Kong teenager from making a name on the American culinary scene.
Chef Joe can be spotted at many watermelon events throughout the year, boasting skillful watermelon carvings and serving up some classic recipes.
Chef Harry Schwartz is the creator and host of the once popular PBS show, “Chef Harry and Friends,” and is known for his high-energy shows and TV news segments ranging from NBC’s “Today Show” to the Fox Food Guru in Nashville. He has authored 5 books and serves as a creative chef consultant for the NWPB, conjuring up dozens of unique, palatable watermelon recipes each year. Chef Harry now resides in Connecticut and can be found at the Heritage Trail Winery and Café.
The NWPB has had the pleasure of working with Chef Harry on high-profile publicity and philanthropic events such as the 2010 DeCA Commissary and Children’s Development Center promotion of the “Eat Healthy, Be Active Your Way” campaign.
Mr. Food, aka Art Ginsberg, is a television chef and best selling author of cookbooks who emphasizes simple recipes. He is the originator of "quick & easy cooking" who, for the past 30+ years, has paved the way for TV food personalities who have followed. With his enthusiastic style, Mr. Food specializes in practical food preparation techniques, using readily available ingredients. He extols an "anybody can do it" philosophy of cooking.
The 90-second Mr. Food television spots are featured on local TV newscasts daily across the U.S. to an audience of over 5 million viewers daily and his known by his signature phrase is "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!"
