The National Watermelon Promotion Board works hard to create news, images, recipes and other information that your readers will find interesting, intriguing and valuable.   By fact that we have USDA oversight, all the information we put out has the USDA and FDA stamp of approval, from Press Releases and Educational Pages to Health Statements.

Please feel free to republish, reprint, use or adapt any information from this website in your next watermelon story.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions from the NWPB.

  • Do I need permission to include one of your recipes and images in my article?

No, you do not need our permission.

  • Do I need to give credit to the NWPB for information from the website?

It would be great if you could give credit, but it is not mandatory.  If you do, saying “Courtesy of National Watermelon Promotion Board” or “Courtesy of NWPB” are adequate.  Any referencing to Watermelon.org would be great.

  • I want to use one of your recipes or carvings, but the picture online is too small in resolution. How can I get a high res JPEG for my article?

We only have so much room in hosting images online. Most of the newer recipes can be found on the CD ROMs available for download.  If you don’t have time to sort through these CD ROMs – and we understand the importance of deadlines in media – contact us at the office.  You can call toll free at 1-877-599-5959 or you can email us at info@watermelon.org.

  • How do I receive a copy of the Press Kit?

You can either contact us at the office to request a Press Kit, download it online by clicking on the image in the top left corner at the Media section, or click here to fill out the online Press Kit Request form.

  • I would like to get some quotes for my article on watermelon. Who is the best person to speak to?

You will need to speak to our Director of Communications, Leslie Coleman. To schedule an interview, you can contact her directly at lcoleman@watermelon.org or by calling 407-657-0261.
