Watermelon Rind Pickles

Do you have an over-abundance of fresh watermelon? Here at The National Watermelon Promotion Board it’s hard for us to fathom such an occasion, but if you find yourself with extra, here a few of our favorite ways to preserve our favorite fruit:

  1. Pickle: Move over traditional pickles, sweet pickled watermelon rinds are the new way to satisfy pregnancy cravings. Check them out here!
  2. Prepare fruit preserves: Check out our Watermelon Jelly Logs that are fruit filled rectangles with watermelon.
  3. Dehydrate: Watermelon Jerky
  4. Freeze: Cutting watermelon into cubes and freeze on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper for a sweet and colorful addition to beverages and cocktails!

Still craving more? We’ve created a Preserving Watermelon Board on our Pinterest page with extra ideas and resources. Follow us for regular updates with recipes and how-to’s.

Don’t worry if you’re not into preserving. You can also find fresh watermelon in the produce aisle year-round. Whew!
