Watermelon Gelato
The word “gelato” means ice cream in Italian. While the two frozen desserts have much in common, gelato is lower in fat and typically denser. This recipe has about half the fat and fewer calories than ice cream, yet tastes delicious! Add a few chocolate chips to the mix in the last few minutes while it is churning or just sprinkle some on top, for an extra treat. Try a taste of an Italian summer!

LOVE IT!!! Was afraid wouldn’t have much watermelon flavor, but it’s great! And a lovely soft pink color :))). Churning now; should be good scooping consistency after time in regular freezer. THANKS!!!
(I’m in Peru; watermelon available year round 😁)
“Servings” is not a useful unit when telling how much it makes.
We didn’t exactly make this as directed, but it was a good base for us. We were looking for a good watermelon gelato recipe, because while in Puerto Rico we had an amazing watermelon mint gelato. So we used this recipe, but instead of lemon we used lime and put in lime zest. I forgot to put in the cornstarch and it didn’t seem to have any effect. Then we also added chopped fresh mint. Not sure of the amount, but we started with a little then added a bunch more. So refreshing and yummy.
